'Hi Ruth! Can you be a proxy? One of the bridesmaids cannot make it.' He asked.
'Of course! (I was on a vacation at that time in Bohol.) 'When's your wedding Kuya?' - It'll be by the end of May, can you make it?' - Oh sure! I replied. 'I'll be back before then.'
The Wedding day...
Well, it's my first time to be a bridesmaid and that I had a mixed feeling, but gladly my partner was also a friend, so to lessen any awkwardness effect.
The wedding was truly beautiful! I am honored to be a part of it. At the same time, it was truly as I say; 'My first and hopefully final!'
You know that part of the wedding were they will pass on the flower to the "lucky woman" and so some other stuff goes for the men?
So, I am always good at this, I mean skipping. But, this was different, all of you bridesmaids are gonna hold a ribbon, attached to the flower, and pull it on three... Well, I guess I am very lucky! I hold "THE RIBBON" the only one that will hold the flower! (All the others were fake!) Well, I ain't really happy that time, I am like puzzled right then. You know what's more funny? My partner that time was also my partner in the wedding dance! Like, who does this?! lol... This, I CONSIDERED TO BE ONE OF THE MOST AWKWARD MOMENT EVER! But definitely a memorable one!
I am grateful for the experience. I was just a proxy, but I sure do have a lot of fun! I still keep the garter though. My first and hopefully final! Cause I pray to be the one on the altar the next time around, no hurry, definitely in HIS time.
Marriage is a serious matter. No need to rummage. You don't do it because you are pressured, or left out, nor to have fun and adventure. It will come, you need not to search around the corners for potential partners, ladies that's not our job, it's men. Know your price, know your worth! God's man will come at the right time, at the right season! Do not conform to the standard of this world, by bending yourself. Stand your ground, you are a daughter, a princess of the King! Yes, waiting is long process, but I believe it is sure worth it! "Pag special and order mo, medyo natatagalan talaga." So when the time comes that he arrives, I hope you're empowered and ready! Getting into a relationship, should only have one common denominator, marriage. If you're not ready, just don't. But as you patiently waits, God will prepare you both, and when it's time, it'll be one of the most amazing gift a Father could give to His daughter. He makes everything beautiful in His time!
God bless your heart!
